Summary
RED ROOM is an art lounge that appears for two days once every two months in the 1929 stone entrance hall of YCC Yokohama Creativecity Center. As the name suggests, everything from the lighting to the interior is composed around the theme of red, with drinks — including alcohol — served from a bar counter. The lighting and the red room itself are artworks by Kyota Takahashi and Reiko Kawaguchi, known for their light works at Smart Illumination Yokohama; the event brings together historic architecture, art, music and performance.
The third edition, RED ROOM #3, featured the building illumination and the artwork of the red room by Takahashi and Kawaguchi, performances by two drag queens, Madame Red and Red Girl, a DJ set by LaLa (Toru Yamanaka), a musician travelling through time and space, and a script by the essayist Ame Deguchi. Newly joining them were “Kai” and Poseidon, in a performance based on the story “Poseidon and the Mysteries of the Sea”.
