Summary

The first exhibition in YCC Gallery, a new series of small-scale art exhibitions at YCC, presenting the young painter Satoshi Uchiumi. Built up meticulously with brushes and cotton swabs, his paintings are marked by the beauty of their colour and by a depth that reaches beyond the conventions of the two-dimensional. Alongside a classical painting practice often shown in public spaces, he also produces experimental works that respond to the particular space in which they are shown. For this exhibition he presented new oil paintings on star-shaped canvases made for YCC’s distinctive gallery.
