The third exhibition in YCC Gallery, YCC’s series of small-scale art exhibitions, presenting the young Korean artist Sora Yu. Based in Seoul, she draws not with pencil on paper but with thread and a sewing machine on white cloth. Bags, high heels, keys, tableware, interiors, a hairdryer – the everyday things she renders in cloth and thread carry a distinctive gentleness and warmth, and call to mind the feelings, the time and the memories held within objects and scenes. Drawing on her own repeated moves between homes and studios, the exhibition took “moving house” as its theme and brought together new two- and three-dimensional works.
